“DO YOU LOVE ME?”

He said to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter felt hurt because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, "Feed my sheep." (John 21:17)

“DO YOU LOVE ME?”

“Do you love me?” Jesus asks me.
“Lord, you know I do!” I say.
But I find that I deny him
almost daily in some way.

“Do you love me?” Jesus asks me,
“more than all your cherished things?”
“Yes, you know I love you, Jesus!”
(But I still enjoy my flings.)

“Do you love me?” Jesus asks me.
“You know everything, my Lord.
You must know how much I love you!”
(But what price can I afford?)

“Do you love me?” Jesus asks me.
I reply, “With all my heart!
And I’ll do my best to show you,
Lord, if you just do your part!”
